EPlusInterface Version 0.004 is available

What it can do

Edit any idf file
Does simple error checking on entries you make
Allows you to select items from other parts of the file. Such as selecting 'construction' for a 'surface'
Allows you to select key values when you have a choice. For instance Terrain can be picked from a choice of ([1] Country [2] Suburbs [3] City [4] Ocean [5] Urban)

What it cannot do

You cannot add new objects. Only edit existing objects in a file. The next version will include this functionality
'Save as ..' saves only in the default folder

Description

EPlusInterface is an open source initiative to develop a comprehensive interface for EnergyPlus. The code is freely available for anyone to use. The license is GPL. Some of the modules under development are listed below. A few of them are ready to use. Check in status of modules

EPlusTUI: Text based interface tui = text user interface - available now
EPlusGUI: Graphical interface for Linux, Mac and Windows
API: A set of well documented API that can be used to develop specialized interfaces
CAD Interface: Protocol for building 3D models in CAD for EnergyPlus - with conversion routines to generate EnergyPlus files
Material Library: Develop standard libraries for materials, construction, windows, systems, plants etc.
Import/Export: Protocol for transferring (import/export) elements between files

Installing and Running

Windows (executable)

Download EPlusEXE.zip and unzip it
Open the folder EPlusEXE
Double click on 'EPlusInterface.exe

Windows (source code):

Install Python2.3 <http://python.org/>
Download and unzip the files from EPlusInterface.zip
Double click on EPlusInterface.py

Unix (Including Mac OS X)

Good chance python is already installed (make sure you have Python2.3)
download the files
run EPlusInterface.py from the command line (type 'python EPlusInterface.py')
